At this turning point of Jesus' ministry, He informs the Disciples that He will die soon and why.

He tells them they must also metaphorically die to gain eternal life and fruitfulness.

When he said we must hate our lives in this world, he doesn't mean clinical depression.  The meaning is nuanced and profound.

Questions

Q1. Jesus talks about himself in verse 23 transitioning to talking about His followers in verse 26 and kind of both in between.

What do Jesus and John want you to know?

Q2. In John 12:20 some Greeks are introduced but not addressed.  Why would Greeks wanting to see Jesus trigger him to inform the Disciples of his death?

Q3. Notice that the English translations of verse 25 use "life" to translate the Greek words psuche (1st and 2nd use of "life") and zoe (in "eternal life"). But Jesus used different words on purpose.

The word "eternal" here (aionios) means no beginning and no end, so it's not your eternal life.

What does this mean and imply?
