Sermon notes:
1. In a complex and anxious age, develop the muscles of cultural discernment.
2. When isolation and mistrust are the norms, forge meaningful intergenerational relationships
3. Curb entitlement and self-centred tendencies by engaging in countercultural mission
"Being counter-culture means being dead-set against entitlement in our lives"
1. What is it mean to be "counter-culture" in context of The Church? What does that look like?
2. What are the keys to a "meaningful intergenerational" relationship?
3. How much do we have to emphasize the fundamentals of the church in opposition to the world, versus understanding the new world and adapting?
How do we find the balance?
4. Read Phil 3:4-11
Note that Paul is talking about losing religious things and calls them "in the flesh". What are the differences between what Paul loses and what he keeps.
5. Share examples where your balance (between sticking to traditional truth versus adapting) does not equal the church around you.
How does that feel?
Is there a generational difference?
How do we work that out?
